I just got back from a birthday party at a Preschool on Long Island, and boy was that fun! If you’re planning a birthday party for your child you should ask about hosting the party at your child’s school.

Having your child’s birthday party in school has lots of advantages; no clean-up, no crazy kids running around your house and plenty of supervision. You can save money, time and cut the stress of hosting a party considerably when you throw your child a party at school. I’ve done my magic show at pre-schools all over New York City and Long Island.

Here’s what you need to know:

• Every school is different. Some love parties, some hate them. Just ask … and ask early.
• Ask about bringing in food before you head into the party. With so many food allergies it can cause a lot of headache is you accidentally bring in the wrong food.
• Ask about bringing in entertainment. Most schools are thrilled to get a free, professional magic show. Lots of times that’s all it takes to get permission.
• Ask about my live bunny. Most pre-schools love pets and many have pets in the classroom. When my bunny rabbit appears at your party the kids will be thrilled.

Saturday was super-busy with five shows. The first show was in Farmingdale at Bella Napoli. The event was a communion party for Evan. He was a very enthusiastic volunteer and his little brother Vincent stole the show! Too much fun! This was a repeat performance and I was happy to see a number of familiar faces in the crowd.

Yesterday was crazy-busy with 5 magic shows! Show number 3 was for an adorable little 5 year-old boy in Queens. He was dressed up in a magician’s costume – top hat, wand and cape. Little Zayed was thrilled when he waved his wand and made a handkerchief vanish. He even took a bow! All the kids were loving the magic show, as were the moms and dads. Thanks Richmond Hill! A house full of crazy 9 year old girls was the perfect place for my magic and comedy show! The kids had a sleep-over party and mom had me magically appear to help keep the party fun and under control. The kids loved the magic and flipped over Mr. Bunny! I do a lot of magic shows in Great Neck – so give me a call next time you’re planning a birthday party for kids!

I did a patient appreciation day for a dentist in Tuckahoe that was so much fun! Main Street Pediatric Dental had a fun week with face painters and my magic show, right in the lobby! I got a chance to do a dozen mini-shows in the waiting room which really helped make the time fly! Kudos to Main Street for a child-friendly and amazing practice!

It looks like an excellent room for a Communion Party or Baptism Party. The food was delicious (ok, it looked delicious, I don’t eat when I’m working, but the guests enjoyed it.) Howdy! I’ve been entertaining a kid’s parties all over New York City since I was a kid in high school. With over 30 years of professional performing experience, tons of happy clients and delighted audiences I’m sure I can help make your next event a hit.

I mix stand-up comedy with sleight of hand magic to create a funny and interactive magic show like no other. No cheesy trick boxes, no corny jokes (ok, maybe a lot of corny jokes) – instead I baffle and bewilder kids and adults alike with pure illusions while making the laugh with improv and various shtick.

I started doing magic when I was about six years-old when my big sister Susan bought me a magic kit for Christmas. From there I scoured the library on Flatbush Avenue and Avenue P and checked out every book on magic they had, over and over again. One year my sister took me to see Doug Henning’s Magic Show on Broadway, and another time to Richardi’s World of Illusion at the Village Gate. That’s where I saw Professor Bobby Baxter perform. It changed everything. Sure, I loved the tigers, the doves and the dramatic buzz saw illusion … but it was the comedy and magic of Bobby Baxter I loved most of all.

In high school I discovered a magic shop on Coney Island Avenue and went there every chance I could.  One day I got good enough for the owner to hire me to do a birthday party show. I look back at that first show and laugh.

My mom drove me to that first show and lots more after that. Bit my bit I built up my skills and showmanship. I started busking (street performing) around NYC, especially around the World Trade Center. Later I hit the comedy club circuit and at one point did pure stand-up, with no magic.

Long story short, I got married and raised 4 wonderful kids. I decided that the travelling magic show wasn’t for me and my family. I took a job on Wall Street – but kept performing too. At one point I won “New York’s Funniest Stockbroker.” Finally, after the kids grew up I left the 9 to 5 to do magic full-time.

It’s been fun! I’ve performed all over New York and in every neighborhood in Brooklyn. I hope I can entertain you and your guests soon!
